Sadly, this is not actually a tale of revenge. It is, in fact, a tragedy:
It could have been a lot worse: I was in The Nerd at the time, on a motorway, driving my boyfriend to the airport, but it was very slow, heavy traffic, and the traffic slowed to a stop, so I slowed to a stop, but the kid behind me didn't quite slow down quick enough. It was only a bump, really, but his car (or rather, his mum's - I bet he was in SO much trouble when he got home!) was bigger than mine, so there you go. But I still thank my lucky stars: nobody was injured, the car was still driveable, we still managed to make it to the airport in time, and the other driver has admitted full liability.
Of course it means I've spent all week on the phone to my insurers, his insurers, the courtesy car company, the garage, and who knows who else, and the majority of my internet time has been taken up with looking for a new car, so I've barely glanced at a blog all week, never mind had time to write a post, but I'm sure you understand.
So, if anybody wants to buy me a new car for my birthday (which is tomorrow, by the way) that would be lovely. Thanks.
Oh my!!! Eleni, what horrid luck! Glad the traffic was slow, because with that car behind you, it could have turned ugly.
ReplyDeleteOn the flip side, NEW CAR!
Bye Nerd, been nice seeing you on the blog. Be happy in Car Island heaven (Carlisle).
And Happy Birthday for tomorrow!!!! x
Glad to hear you came out ok but, still, what a bummer! I hope insurance takes a load off since the other driver was clearly at fault. :-( Best luck car shopping.
ReplyDeleteHappy early birthday!!
Oh poor you ... but at least you were both ok. I pity you having to deal with the insurers and get another car ... always a pain. M x
ReplyDeleteI know that everyone says it : Glad you're ok... the main thing is no one was hurt... you can fix a car not a life.... yadda yadda" BUT platitudes are there for a reason not so? So I'm going to make up my own.... "Totally sucks that you have to do all the crappy paperwork s*#! BUT it would suck even more if you weren't around to do it hey?" PS - I'm sorry I missed your birthday... Happy Belated Bee Day from Oz! :-) xx
ReplyDeleteHa ha, thanks, yes the paperwork DOES suck! I don't know if I'm with a particularly rubbish insurance company or if this is the norm, but it's been a complete headache and I'm still arguing with them!
DeleteWill his insurance not cover the damages to your car?? I would cry so hard to lose a beloved car. And I have. Poor Monty, Hector, Davy, Kingston and Cody. The fallen. (Jeez, have I really gone through that many cars? Yes: they were all old beaters.)
ReplyDeleteGlad you're okay! How frustrating that it's written off...why are cars so expensive to fix?!
ReplyDeleteHope you manage to find something and I hope you had a good birthday too!
Hi, dear!
ReplyDeleteI am not vegan anymore... but I was having a delicious veggie burger in that post! Mmm! I enjoyed being vegan for 2 months and then decided to take a break. There are a bunch of vegan recipe blogs listed on my blog, if you're really interested! They are wonderful!
So sorry to hear about your car!!!! Oh no! That's the worst! Shit happens, I guess... I hope you had a good birthday!!! Happy Birthday!
love, polly :D
