Do you remember Gertie the Stegosaurus, that I got for Christmas? Well, I mentioned at the time that there was another wooden puzzle, but I have only just got it finished! Well worth the wait, though, trust me.
Here's how it started...any guesses? (OK, the title of this post is a pretty big clue)
That's right, bloggers, an owl!
He looks a bit scary from head on, so let's have a profile:
Actually, my favourite view is from the back:
I love how tactile these things are. It's just like holding a pine cone: kind of fragile, with an old-worldy-wisdom about it. I'd like to put them both outside and see how they age, but I officially have no outside space anymore - my landlord told me I had to bring the Wonderous Windowsill Garden indoors! In case one of my flower pots gets blown off my windowsill and blocks the drain, or something. I don't know what he's talking about - imagine a plant being blown off a windowsill...the very idea is preposterous.
On the subject of owls, I have also finished my owl jumper! At last! It was actually probably over a week ago now, but I haven't found the perfect buttons for the eyes yet, so I am saving the photos for when it really is finished. Suffice to say, for now, that it is the best thing I've ever knitted and I can't wait to show it to you! So, what with this puzzle and the jumper, I now have 18 new owls in my life. Oh yes, and the ring, too...a veritable parliament, I'm sure you'll agree.
You could open your own natural history museum!!
ReplyDeleteOh I would really appreciate some tips for the Owl Jumper, it's been one of those projects that I just can't get round to knitting properly because I am so worried about the owls! They all have to match!! Congratulations on your presumably matching owls!
