Lend Me Your Ears

I think those rings have put me on something of a jewellery-buying binge!  Honestly, I haven't bought any jewellery for years, but in the last couple of weeks I've acquired three new pairs of earrings to accompany my new menagerie of rings.

First up, some wooden buttons and a pair of doves:

You may call them sparrows or swallows, but I shall call them doves because that way they match my tattoos.  I never usually wear gold jewellery, but I think the brassy colour of the animal rings has inspired me to go a little more rusty.  And the buttons?  Well, who could resist?  I love wooden jewellery in general, and these were just too cute.  I got another pair for my old housemate in London, as she loves anyhting to do with buttons.  They were from this Ebay shop, if you would like a pair of your own.  The doves were also from Ebay, but it was just a random girl selling them, so I wonder bother linking back, she isn't selling any more pretties today.

Not only am I venturing into hitherto uncharted Jewellery Territory by going for gold (pun absolutely intended), but I also went out on a limb and got myself some danglies, too!

I haven't worn dangly earrings for years while my hair's been short.  I wore a lot of over-sized hoops when I was first at uni, but once my barnet got the chop in my second year, I could never seem to find dangly earrings that didn't just make me look like the wrong kind of Eighties.  My hair's a big curly mop, so I always felt that Statement Earrings would just be a step too far.  But now I am trying to grow my hair long again I'm feeling my inner hippie emerge - my dad always says I'm his "hippie chick".  When I was trying to be a punk it really used to bother me (dads never get the terminology right, do they?) but these days I care far less about such subcultural pigeonholing, and am more than happy to embrace my feather- and flower-wearing impulses.  There are two blogs I love (Delightfully Tacky and Indian Summer Vintage) who are both really into the American desert - Native Americans, sunset drives across open plains, the great outdoors - all those good things.  Plus I am listening to Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros non-stop at the moment (I know I've mentioned them before, but I simply can't help myself) so I guess it was inevitable that I would hop onto the Silver Feather Earring bandwagon.

Erm, does anybody else put so much thought into their choice of earrings or is it just me?
