What's a crafty blogger to do (apart from hang her head in shame at being seen out and about in such tramp-like gloves)? Get better at darning, that's what!
Seriously, I need to get much better at darning - they're still pretty messy, but at least they're not letting any air in like before. Darning's a bit like weaving: you start by threading horizontal bars, then you weave in and out of them vertically (or vice versa, depending on the nature of your - ahem - hole). This should make a neat little patch of fabric which blends seamlessly into the rest of the garment. As you can see, I have yet to master this skill. But since I am a chronic toe-poker (ALL my tights and socks have holes in the toes!) I fully intend to keep at it. My pinkies certainly appreciate my efforts, and I'm sure my piggies will too.
Yes yes! Darining is great! Don't you just love that smug feeling of rescuing instead of throwing out?
ReplyDeleteOh, a friend bought me two Hyacinths, It's like spring! I'll share my flowers pics with you soon! It's so exciting!

ReplyDeleteHi Eleni
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting :-)
Darning ... it's a lost art, don't you think? But really quite a nice therapeutic activity when you have the chance to do a little of it ;-)
I love the music in the previous post and the video too - all that sunshine and fun outdoors - it made me quite desperate for Summertime !!
Have a lovely week!

I also caught up with your London trip - hey what about that connection to Islington ?!?!?! Who'd have thought it would ever be ??
