Botanical Gardens Part Two - The Flowers

Now, I know what you're thinking, where were all the pretty flowers from that post about the Botanical Gardens? Well, believe it or not, I don't like to ramble on too long in a single blog post (hard to tell, right?) and I had so many photos that I thought I'd split the story into two. So, without further ado, here are the nice girly colourful bits from my day in the park.

These blossoms were all over the grass, and they were so pretty! They come from the delightfully-named Indian Bean Tree.

The smelled fantastic too, so I am seriously going to research how one might cultivate such a plant at home.

It was quite a gloomy day, and I was beginning to wonder if I'd completely missed the prettiest season in the garden, as I had been meandering for some time, and not really seen that many flowers. However, I need not have despaired, as I turned a corner onto this lovely path:

Now that's a garden! The colours really don't show up very well in this photo so here's some close-ups:

Goodness, gracious, pink balls of fire! I wish I could have got closer, these big pink balls were so awesome! As there were no nametags nearby, I have had to look them up online (may I recommend this website, dear bloggers) and have discovered that they are a kind of dahlia called Aurora's Kiss. How gorgeous?! Can I grow dahlias on my windowsill? Oh, I do hope so!

I must admit though, the shape of those dahlias was almost trumped by the colour of these...

...er...hibiscus? Gladiola? Damn you, Google! Actually, I suppose I should be cross with the City of Bath Botanical Gardens for not properly labelling their specimens for the benefit of enquiring minds. However, they do guided walks, so I might attend one of them and take a notebook!
